"Feeling Good" is a cover of a song originally from a 1965 musical (The Roar of the Greasepaint—the Smell of the Crowd). Nestlé temporarily used Muse's version in a coffee commercial without wallpaper muse en concert their permission.
"Knights of Cydonia" combines elements of surf rock and progressive Gaia Polloni picture rock to create a song which Bellamy describes as "pushing the epic side of the band to almost comical levels".[14][15] Bellamy went on to say that the album was "part dance, part rock, something we haven’t done before".[8]

An unofficial and unauthorised gaia DVD biography containing no Muse music called Manic Depression was released in April 2005; the band was not involved with the project and did not endorse the release.[17] Another DVD, this time official, was released on December 12, 2005, Absolution Tour, containing re-edited and re-mastered highlights from the Glastonbury Festival 2004, and previously unseen footage from London Earls Court, Wembley Arena, and the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. Two songs, "Endlessly" and "Thoughts Of A Dying Atheist", are hidden tracks on the DVD taken from Wembley Arena. The only song from Absolution not to appear on the live DVD is "Falling Away With You", which has never been performed live to date.[18] Absolution eventually went Gold in the US.[19]
As well as alternating matthew bellamy muse between using mainly Tama Starclassic Maple 14x6.5", to match his chrome kit and Ludwig LB417 Black Beauty 14x6.5" snare drums, he has a number of less prominent snares used for recording and video clips (for example the shallow snare used for recording Fury, the Starclassic Maple 14x5.5" that matched his silver sparkle kit used for the recording of Ruled By Secrecy, the brass snare in the Time Is Running Out video clip).
Bassist Chris Wolstenholme Matthew Bellamy and Gaia Polloni photos considered writing and recording for Black Holes & Revelations more relaxed than it had been for previous albums, as the band did not have a deadline to work to.[7] It was the first time they had learned about the technology in the studio, having previously left the use of it to the sound engineers.[7] Bellamy said that this was the first time Muse made an album without being concerned about how they would play it live.[8]
