Fragments of the song "New Born" have been used in an advertisement for Oxfam designed by Tim Burton. The advertisement album cover meaning muse black holes and revelations uses part of the piano intro and the first driving guitar riff.

Given his standing and reputation as one of modern rock's most innovative guitarists, Bellamy has often been questioned on who influenced his playing of the instrument. In a 2008 interview with NME, he cited Jimi Hendrix, Prince, The Edge and Tom Morello as guitarists who had shaped his playing style. The latter concert rockall luxembourg he has often been compared with, as Bellamy often combines Morello's heavy, swaggering, Led Zeppelin-influenced riffs with inventive solos, which can be observed particularly well live, when, like Morello, Bellamy often changes his riffs or adds additional ones to songs. Having built up a strong reputation as a live band over the course of the Origin of Symmetry tour, Muse decided to release a live CD and DVD. The DVD, Hullabaloo, featured live footage recorded during Muse's two gigs on consecutive nights at Le Zenith in Paris in 2001 and a documentary film of the muse brit awards pics band on tour. A double album, Hullabaloo Soundtrack was released at the same time, containing a compilation of B-sides and a disc of recordings of songs from the Le Zenith performances. A double-A side single was also released featuring new songs "In Your World" and "Dead Star". The song "Shrinking Universe" from Hullabaloo Soundtrack was used in trailers for the 2007 film 28 Weeks Later.
