"Feeling Good" is a cover of a song originally from a 1965 musical (The Roar of the Greasepaint—the Smell of the Crowd). Nestlé temporarily Rechercher used Muse's version in a coffee commercial without their permission.

"Knights of Cydonia" combines elements of surf rock and progressive rock to create a song which Bellamy describes as "pushing the epic side of the band to almost comical levels".^{Felicitas Woll nude id="cite_ref-Telegraph_13-0" class="reference">[14]}^[15] Bellamy went on to say that the album was "part dance, part rock, something we haven’t done before".^[8]
